Retired at 35

Marissa Jaret Winokur

Marissa Jaret Winokur joins the cast of the TV Land original sitcom Retired at 35 as Amy Robbins, the sharp-witted daughter of Alan Robbins (George Segal) and wife Elaine (Jessica Walter). A successful saleswoman, Amy has her work life in order, but her taste in men is questionable at best. Amy and her brother David (Johnathan McClain) must navigate their lives as young adults while trying to get along with their retired – and separated – parents. The series returns the summer of 2012 for a second season of hilarious intergenerational mishaps.

Winokur danced her way into the hearts of America as a fan-favorite on the hit ABC series Dancing With the Stars during the sixth season. Though her scores didn’t always get her to the top of the leader board, Winokur's incredible personality and infectious smile won viewers over, and America voted for her over and over again, keeping her on the show to the semi-finals.

Winokur is perhaps best known for originating the role of Tracy Turnblad in the hit Broadway musical Hairspray, a performance for which she won a Tony® Award, a Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actress. As Hairspray reached the end of its Broadway run, Winokur returned to close the show, reviving her role as the zaftig lead. In the summer of 2011, she reunited with her Broadway co-star, Harvey Fierstein, for a special engagement of the show at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl, leading an all-star cast that included Nick Jonas, Drew Carey and John Stamos.

Winokur was regularly seen as the “man on the streets” correspondent of the CBS daytime show, The Talk. She co-starred with Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon in the Farrelly Brothers film Fever Pitch, and on the hit FOX comedy Stacked with Pamela Anderson. Winokur also starred in the Lifetime movie It Was One of Us and served as host of Oxygen Network's dance and weight loss competition, Dance Your Ass Off. The show, which has been described at The Biggest Loser meets Dancing With the Stars, had the most-watched original series premiere in Oxygen Network's history.

A native of New York, Winokur started her career on the stage, appearing as Jan in the Broadway production of Grease. After moving to Los Angeles, she quickly landed roles in the features Teaching Mrs. Tingle and Never Been Kissed. These were followed by her memorable roles in Scary Movie and American Beauty, where she immortalized the phrase "You are so busted." In television, she starred alongside Fran Drescher and Mark Consuelos in the ABC Family Channel romantic comedy Beautiful Girl. Winokur also executive produced the film, which was the network's highest rated original movie of the year. Winokur has recurred on Dharma and Greg and Moesha, and her guest starring roles include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Jack and Bobby, Just Shoot Me, Felicity, and Get Real.

As a cancer survivor, Winokur works closely with Stand Up 2 Cancer and other cancer charities, raising money for research and sharing the message that there is life after cancer. Winokur and her husband, comedy writer Judah Miller, live in Los Angeles with their son Zev.
