Chicago
Illinois native Marsha Warfield began her career as a member
of Richard Pryor's controversial 1977 sketch program, The
Richard Pryor Show. Warfield continued to hone her craft
by performing stand-up comedy, and landed a notable role in
the television movie The Marva Collins Story in 1981.
She landed the roll of Night Court's third Court Matron,
Rosalind Russell, under sorrowful circumstances -- the actresses
who played the first two Matrons died - but her terse manner
and take-no-prisoners attitude brought a new dimension to the
series. Warfield had her own short-lived talk show, and after
the cancellation of The Marsha Warfield Show, she went
on to guest star in a number of films and television programs
including Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, her former co-star's
own show, The John Larroquette Show, Mad About You
and Veronica's Closet. |
