General Steele mistakes Klinger for his wife. Even Hawkeye says, "That man's a nut. I've seen that look in the eyes in every Hitchcock movie."
Factoid: Harry Morgan won an Emmy for his guest-starring performance in this episode. He would later join the cast as Col. Potter
50-Rainbow Bridge
Henry sends Hawkeye, Trapper, Frank, Radar and Klinger into enemy territory to meet Chinese Dr. Lin Tam in order to follow up on an enemy offer to swap POWs. Frank nearly ruins everything when he brings a squirt gun to the exchange.
51-Officer of the Day
While Henry visits Seoul, Frank and Hot Lips are in charge, but Hawkeye is the officer of the day. Hawkeye's refusal to release a wounded Korean soldier creates a conflict with Colonel Flagg.
52-Iron Guts Kelly
General "Iron Guts" Kelly comes to camp for an inspection, but ends up dying in Margaret's tent. Hawkeye and Trapper help sneak the General out of camp. The next day he is listed among those killed at the front - an end befitting a soldier known as Iron Gut.
Factoid: Donald Sutherland played the role of Hawkeye Pierce in the film version of M*A*S*H.
53-O.R.
The operating room is overwhelmed with wounded soldiers. Hawkeye skillfully heart massages a soldier back to life, only to see him die four hours later.
54-Springtime
Love is definitely in the air: Klinger gets married via short wave radio to his sweetheart back in Toledo, Radar falls in love with a nurse, and one of Hawkeye's patients won't leave him alone.
55-Check-up
Trapper discovers he has developed an ulcer, which is a guaranteed ticket home ... until a new Army regulation arrives during his farewell party and forces him to continue to serve.
Factoid: Several M*A*S*H cast members were recruited for a series of TV commercials for the IBM Personal Computer. Alan Alda endorsed the Atari PC.
56-Life with Father
A letter from home causes Henry to believe Lorraine may be seeing other men. Father Mulcahy conducts a circumcision ceremony for the Korean-born son of a US soldier.
57-Alcoholics Unanimous
With Henry in Tokyo, Major Burns is in charge. He decides to ban alcohol, which causes a riot led by Hawkeye and Trapper.
58-There is Nothing Like a Nurse
The nurses are evacuated because of the imminent threat of a direct enemy attack. Hawkeye and Trapper feebly try to lift everyone's spirits while the lovely ladies are away.
59-Adam's Ribs
Hawkeye, Trapper, and Radar concoct a surreptitious scheme to requisition some authentic spare ribs from Chicago. At last, the ribs arrive ... along with more wounded.
60-A Full Rich Day
Hawkeye records a letter to his dad, telling him all about a crazy Turkish soldier, the misplacement of the corpse of another soldier, and a trigger-happy officer.
61-Mad Dogs and Servicemen
After a local dog bites Radar, the camp conducts a massive search for the canine in hopes that Radar can avoid a series of painful rabies vaccinations. Despite Frank's objections, Hawkeye treats a GI who's suffering from a quirky case of paralysis.
62-Private Charles Lamb
A Greek Colonel rewards the 4077th with an Easter feast. But that old softy Radar tricks Henry into giving a medical discharge the main course - a luscious, succulent lamb. So, Hawkeye and Trapper improvise a new recipe - Spam Lamb! Meanwhile, a soldier who intentionally shot himself to get out of the army mistakenly confesses to Frank.
63-Bombed
The heat is on. The compound is under fire. The O.R. is over-run with wounded and in a jealous rage, Frank proposes to Margaret.
Factoid: Jamie Farr started out on the series as the P.A. announcer, but after he won his recurring role as Klinger, recurring director Hy Averback performed regularly as the voice heard over the loudspeaker.
64-Bulletin Board
Henry has to lecture the camp about sex. And, of course, Hawkeye and Trapper have to heckle him. There's also a Shirley Temple movie and a cookout scheduled for the 4077th.
Factoid: Alan Alda did not agree to play Hawkeye until six hours before filming began on the pilot.
65-The Consultant
A celebrated surgeon, Dr. Borelli, visits the 4077th to demonstrate his delicate technique for transplanting arteries. The proximity to the front triggers a drinking problem - right when a patient needs a transplant.
Factoid: This episode marks the first of two appearances by Robert Alda as Dr. Borelli. He is the father of series star Alan Alda.
66-House Arrest
Hawkeye punches Major Burns. Houlihan and Trapper are opposing witnesses. A female colonel investigates Burns. She accuses him of rape when Burns visits her tent. Houlihan recants her story and Burns is placed under house arrest.
67-Aid Station
Hawkeye, Houlihan, and Klinger are sent together to the front. Faced with heavy enemy fire, cramped quarters and unsanitary conditions, the three learn to respect each other.
68-Love and Marriage
Hawkeye and Trapper talk a GI out of marrying an infected call girl, while simultaneously helping a Korean soldier rendezvous with his pregnant wife.
69-Big Mac
General MacArthur is coming to the 4077th! It's an honor. A privilege. Validation. Just as the legendary leader rolls through camp, Klinger appears as the Statue of Liberty. MacArthur salutes!
70- Payday
Hawkeye talks Radar into getting him $3,000 in lost earnings. Hawkeye donates the money to Father Mulcahy for orphans. Then Uncle Sam decides he wants his money back. Hawkeye faces the stockade. Rather than do the time, he simply takes the big stakes Trapper just won playing poker.
Factoid: William Christopher, who plays Father Mulcahy, is a direct descendant of Paul Revere.
71- White Gold
Colonel Flagg arrives at the 4077th with the brilliant idea of trading penicillin for information. When Flagg is diagnosed with appendicitis, he comes to understand the critical importance of the medication.
Factoid: Edward Winter is best known for his portrayals as Col. Flagg, but he also was a two-time Tony Award nominee for his performances on Broadway.
72-Abyssinia, Henry
Henry gets his discharge. In the plot twist that shocked the nation, Radar announces that Henry has been killed when his plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan.
