Walnut Grove
Financial hardship hits the Ingalls after the mill is forced to close and
Charles doesn't get his expected pay. While Charles is forced to take multiple
jobs and his family pitches in to contribute, Nels admires Charles for having a
supportive family.
Episode #26 - Four Eyes
Mary gets new glasses to help her do better in school. Her love for the glasses
turns into hate once her classmates begin to humiliate her. Only Miss Beadle
can convince her to appreciate the glasses.
Episode #27 - Ebenezer Sprague
Laura befriends Ebenezer, the new miserly banker in town. Once he discovers
she's the daughter of Charles, Ebenezer thinks she was sent to trick him into
giving her father a loan.
Episode #28 - In the Big Inning
Walnut Grove's baseball team is sure to win the big game with Mr. Mumford
pitching. But when his wife discovers the townspeople betting on the game, she
insists her husband not play. Caroline tries to change her mind so people won't
lose their money.
Episode #29 - Haunted House
On a dare from Nellie, Laura ventures into a “haunted” house -- only to
discover a nice old man waiting for his dead wife to return.
Episode #30 - The Campout *
Mrs. Oleson, worried that the Ingalls children will beat Nellie and Willie in a
leaf-gathering project for school, decides that she and her children will
accompany the Ingalls on a campout. The Olesons do not take easily to roughing

Laura and Grace Snider scheme to get their crushes to ask them to the Spring Dance.

Dying widow Julia Sanderson asks Charles to help her find a home for her three

Episode # 33 - Remember Me (part 2) *
Charles struggles to find a home for Julia Sanderson's three orphaned children.
Reluctantly, he decides to separate them to different families. Mr. Edwards,
who has been helping Grace Snider take care of the children in the interim,
doesn't want the children to suffer from being separated and realizes he
doesn't want to be alone any longer....he asks Grace to marry him and they
adopt all three children. (This episode is listed on TV Land’s schedule as

Episode #34 - At the End of the Rainbow
Laura and her friend think they’ve discovered gold in a stream. Laura imagines
all the things she’ll be able to do for her family with her wealth. But dreams
turn to disappointment when they try to cash in.
Episode #35 - The Gift
Mary and her classmates raise money to buy a birthday gift for Reverend Alden.
But instead of purchasing the gift, Laura and Mary decide to use the money to invest
in another item that's sure to bring more money. To their great dismay, the
plan doesn't work.
Episode #36 - His Father's Son
Mr. Edwards tries to encourage his adopted son John to develop a greater
interest in hunting. But John is more of a poet and a dreamer than a hunter,
and writes Mr. Edwards a letter to explain his feelings. When Mr. Edwards does
not respond, John thinks Mr. Edwards doesn’t love him. The confusion between
the two turns dangerous on a hunting trip.
Episode #37 - The Talking Machine
Laura and Nellie compete for the affections of Jason, a new boy in school.
Nellie pulls the Walnut Grove version of the three-way calling trick on Laura
when she encourages her to talk about her feelings for Jason while Willie
records them. Why is Nellie SO MEAN?!
Episode #38 - The Pride of Walnut Grove
Mary has the opportunity to compete in a state math contest but is disappointed
when she discovers her family does not have the money to send her. The town
council decides to pay all of these costs, since Mary would be representing
Walnut Grove.
Episode #39 - A Matter of Faith
While Charles and the girls are away on a trip, Caroline is injured by a rusty
nail. She becomes critically ill and must find a way to treat the infection on
her own.
Episode #40 - The Runaway Caboose
Laura, Mary and Mr. Edwards’s adopted son, Carl, go along with Charles and Mr.
Edwards to a train station, where they find themselves in danger when they wander
into a train caboose.
Episode #41 - Troublemaker
Ms. Beadle has trouble maintaining order in the classroom when the older
students return to school after harvest. The school board hires a new teacher,
Hannibal Applewood, to deal with the problem. Laura quickly becomes the target
of his nasty temper.
Episode #42 - The Long Road Home
Road trip! Charles and Mr. Edwards
get a job delivering explosives along with two other men, Murphy and Henry
Hill. While they don’t have to deal with any “GoodFellas,” they do have to cope
with road obstructions, bandits, animosity between Murphy (who is white) and
Henry (who is black), and the possibility of getting blown up by nitroglycerin.

Episode #43 - For My Lady
Charles takes a job working for the lovely young widow Thurman in exchange for an
expensive set of china for Caroline. To surprise Caroline with the gift, he
tells a few white lies. Caroline assumes the worst.
Episode #44 - Centennial
The Independence Day celebration is threatened when a property tax increase
causes turmoil in Walnut Grove. Yuri, a recent Russian immigrant, loses his
property but is still happy to be in America.
Episode #45 - Soldier's Return
It’s a bittersweet homecoming when a soldier returns from the Civil War
haunted, broken and addicted to morphine.
Episode #46 - Going Home
Distraught after his crops are ruined by a tornado, Charles decides to move his
family back to the Big Woods of Wisconsin.
