Dabbs
Greer, born on April 2, 1917 in Fairview, Missouri, began acting
at the tender age of 8-years-old. After graduating and earning
a Bachelor of Arts degree from Drury College in Springfield,
Missouri, Greer moved to Pasadena, California to participate
as an actor and instructor at the Pasadena Playhouse. In 1949,
Greer made his film debut in very small role in the motion picture
Reign of Terror. Over the next fifty years, Greer continued
to appear in several television projects including Adventures
of Superman, The Fugitive, The Brady Brunch,
The Twilight Zone, Bonanza, The Rifleman
and Gunsmoke with Michael Landon. His ability to play
a variety of different characters worked to his benefit when
he was cast as Reverend Alden in Little House on the Prairie.
For nine years, Greer played Walnut Grove's spiritual figure.
With the end the telecast of Little House, Greer continued
to pursue his craft and was seen on television in Picket
Fences, Runaway Daughters, and Maybe It's Me.
On the big screen, Greer was featured in Little Giants,
Con Air and The Green Mile. |
