Kevin
Hagen was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 3, 1928. The son
on professional ballroom dancers, Hagen attended Oregon State
University and spent some time in the U.S. Navy. He went on
to earn a degree in international relations at University of
Southern California. At 27 years of age, he decided to try his
hand at acting. In the early 1960's, Hagen began his career
working in film and television performing in several western
projects. His big break came in 1974 when he was hired to be
Doc Baker in Little House on the Prairie. For the duration
of the entire series, Hagen brought the compassionate Walnut
Grove doctor alive. Though the series ended, Hagen kept Doc
Baker alive in his one-man show A Playful Dose of Prairie
Wisdom. He created the play based on the doctor he played
on Little House. On July 9, 2005, Hagen succumbed to
cancer while living in Oregon. |
