140 - Mother's Helper
Mrs. Manners' daughter Margie comes over to help June with the
cleaning a couple of days a week. When Wally sees Margie, he
has an instant crush on her. He skips track practice and gets
poor grades just to come from school early and help Margie with
the chores. June realizes this is a problem and must find a
way to get Wally back on track.
141 - The Dramatic Club
Beaver joins Miss Landers' dramatic club and gets the lead in
the play. He is excited until he learns that he has to kiss
a girl on stage. After learning that, he no longer wants to
be in the play, but he sacrifices for his parents. During the
kissing scene, he pretends he is kissing his Uncle Billy.
142 - Wally and Dudley
Dudley is the new kid on the block and June arranges for Wally
to take him around the school and meet all of his friends. The
problem is that Wally thinks Dudley is a loser and must learn
to cope with what his mother wants and what his friends think.
143 - Eddie Spends the Night
Eddie and Wally have a sleepover at Wally's house. They decide
to play chess, but Beaver catches Eddie cheating and Eddie storms
out of the house angry at Beaver and Wally. June and Ward feel
they have to retrieve Eddie and get him to come back to the
house with them so he will be safe and make amends with Wally.
144 - Beaver's Report Card
Beaver struggles in math and managed to get a D minus on his
report card. For laughs, Eddie changes his grade with a pen
from a D minus to a B minus. June eventually finds out the truth
about the grade, but doesn't yell at Beaver because she knows
it was Eddie's prank.
145 - Mistaken Identity
Richard is caught throwing rocks and breaking the windows of
an old abandoned house. When the police ask him his name and
address, he gives them Beaver's name and address. When the police
show up at Beaver's house, they obviously let him go because
he isn't the same kid they caught. Later on Richard apologizes.
146 - Wally's Dream Girl
Wally thinks he has finally met his dream girl - a transfer
student named Ginny Townsend who is a year older than he is.
June decides to get involved by inviting Ginny on a family picnic.
During this picnic, Wally realizes that he doesn't like her
that much because she is allergic to chicken, doesn't eat, and
breaks out in lumps when playing in the sun.
147 - The School Picture
During a class picture, Beaver and Gilbert decide to make goofy
faces at the camera. At the last second Gilbert wises up, so
Beaver is the only one who makes a silly face in the camera.
He gets in trouble with his parents, but luckily his face is
covered by Myrtle Jarvis's hair ribbon.
148 - Beaver's Rat
Beaver buys a rat named Peter for fifty cents, but June refuses
to allow it in the house. So, in order to make a profit on the
rat, Beaver sells it to Violet Rutherford for $3.00. Beaver
is proud of himself but Ward feels he must have a talk with
his son about ripping off other kids in the neighborhood.
149 - In The Soup
Beaver and Whitey become fascinated by a big billboard they
see of a woman holding a cup full of soup. Beaver climbs up
the cup and looks in to prove that there is no soup in the cup,
but then he falls in and is too short to get out. The fire department
has to come to get Beaver out of the empty cup of soup.
150 - Community Chest
June lets Beaver make her rounds to collect for the Community
Chest. By accident, Beaver drops the can and loses it while
eating an ice cream cone with Wally. Now he has to figure out
how to replace the money and tell his parents what happened.
151 - Junior Fire Chief
Beaver is elected the Junior Fire Chief for a school project.
Everyone thinks he would be perfect for the job, but instead
he turns out to act too much like a big shot. Ward has to bring
him aside and have a talk with him about his actions as the
Junior Fire Chief.
152 -Beaver Frogs
Ward agrees to put up half the cost of the twenty-five-dollar
canoe Beaver wants if he will earn the other half. Beaver earns
the rest of the money by collecting frogs and selling them to
a man who needs them. However, Beaver changes his mind when
he finds out that the man kills the frogs and uses them in scientific
experiments.
153 - Beaver Goes In Business
Beaver and Gilbert get involved in the business of mowing lawns.
The problem is that nobody needs their services. Instead of
waiting for someone to come to them, the boys just mow lawns
and ask for the money afterwards. Ward needs to tell them that
business doesn't exactly work that way.
154 -Kite Day
Beaver and Ward enter Father and Son Kite Day. Ward agrees to
help Beaver build a beautiful kite, and they do. Ward warns
Beaver not to touch the kite and let the glue dry for a day
before they do anything with it. However, Beaver takes the kite
out anyway and ruins it. Wally tries to help repair it, but
it is useless.
155 - Beaver's Doll Buggy
Beaver buys a crude coaster racer from Eddie for two dollars, but it needs wheels. Penny Woods has just the wheels that Beaver needs on her doll buggy. He goes over there to get them from her, but he forgot his tools
so he had to push the doll buggy through the neighborhood until he got home. Every time he saw someone he knew, he would throw the buggy into the bushes because he was so embarrassed.
156 - Substitute Father
Ward goes to St. Louis on business, and while he is away Wally
assumes the manly responsibilties around the house. One day
Beaver gets in trouble at school and Wally goes in to talk to
the teacher pretending he is Ward. This obviously doesn't work
very well.
157 - Wally Goes Steady
Ward is shocked one day in the golf club locker room when Bill
Boothby hints that they might be hearing wedding bells soon
since his daughter Evelyn and Wally have been dating. This worries
Ward because this is the first time he has even heard about
it. June and Ward hope that Wally will realize that marriage
is not something to be taken lightly, and ultimately Wally sees
that he isn't quite ready for that kind of commitment.
158 - No Time For Baby Sitters
June and Ward have decided that Beaver is too old to have a
baby-sitter, so Beaver brags about it to all his friends. However,
one Friday night they decide that he does indeed need one, and
so Judy comes over to watch him. He is embarrassed because he
knows that his friends will come over to see if he is lying,
and they will think he is. He needs to find a way to hide Judy
from his friends when they stop by.
159 - Wally's Car
Wally buys his first jalopy for twenty-five dollars. The car
lasts long enough to get Wally back to his driveway, and then
it dies blocking in Ward's car. Now he has to figure out how
to get the car out of the way so his father can get out and
go to work. |
