Wendy Malick was born on December 15, 1950 in Buffalo, New York and attended Wesleyan University. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. and made the unusual choice for someone involved in theater, to work for Republican Congressman Jack Kemp. She quickly left Washington, D.C. behind to act in the theater.
In the 1980s, she appeared in multiple television shows, including: Three's Company, Trauma Center, Kate & Allie, Hunter and Anything But Love. She also appeared in the films Scrooged in 1988, 1995’s The American President and she had a small role in 1991’s Bugsy.
Malick received a great deal of attention for her role in HBO’s comedy Dream On, which ran from 1990 to1996. Malick received a Cable Ace Award (Best Actress in a Comedy Series). Dream On showcased Malick’s comedic timing as well as her sex appeal. Just Shoot Me! was an organic next step.
Just like her character Nina on Just Shoot Me!, Wendie Malick is a former model. Standing at a statuesque 5 feet10 inches, she was signed with the illustrious agency, Wilhelmina in the 1970s.
In Just Shoot Me!, Malick played the role of self-obsessed fashion editor Nina Van Horn. She was nominated for two Emmy’s in Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category in 1999 and 2002 and was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 1999.
Malick has gone on to enjoy a successful voice over career. She was a featured voice on Nickelodeon’s animated series Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. She’s been the voice of Cadillac Seville and Malick has also leant her voice to the Bratz cartoon. Listen carefully and you will also hear her familiar voice in ads for Marshall’s discount clothing store.
