27- Lunch
With Mama Mama’s boy
must cut the apron strings: After Louise asks George to attend a funeral with
her, he refuses to cancel his monthly lunch with his mother. The solution gets
worse: Mother Jefferson joins them at the funeral.

vs. Wall Street A
Willis/Jefferson fight ensues when Lionel refuses to take a cushy job. Speaking
of cushy, George gets a juicy stock tip.

Break-Up (Part One) A two-parter
begins with Lionel’s difficulty writing a paper on homosexuality. But the issue
at hand changes after George buys him a term paper. Tempers flare, a
Willis/Jefferson war escalates, and Jenny and Lionel end up breaking up.
30- The
Break-Up (Part Two) The
Jeffersons and the Willises each debate getting Lionel and Jenny back together.
Meanwhile, Lionel makes a decision about his term paper, and George sets him up
on a date.

Florence’s Problem Florence’s
unusual behavior, namely being nice and going on a cleaning spree, leads Louise
to believe she is suicidal.
32- Mother
Jefferson’s Birthday Hell hath no
fury like a mother whose son has forgotten her birthday -- especially her 70th.
Then Hell really has no idea what hit it when Louise decides to reunite Mother
Jefferson with her estranged sister.

causes George to boil over after a publisher asks Louise to write a cookbook of
her “ghetto recipes.”

Meets Whittendale George goes
to extremes to meet Mr. Whittendale at a party, by hiding in the bathroom with
Tom and Helen.

Lionel’s Problem Lionel has a
very-special-episode kind of problem when his graduation lurks and he starts to
feel the pressure. Louise and Jenny try to hide Lionel from George when the
graduate arrives at the apartment smashed.
36-
Tennis, Anyone? George’s
excitement about being asked to join an exclusive tennis club is severely
mitigated when the word “token” is volleyed.
37- The
Wedding George wants
to renew his vows with Louise because Harry Belafonte did it. But Harry
Belafonte’s wife did not ask to be an equal partner in the dry cleaning
business.
38- George
and the President Airing in
September of 1976, George exploits the bicentennial by claiming to be the
great-great-great grandson of Thomas Jefferson in order to squash a competitor.
39- Louise
Gets Her Way Facing
eviction, Florence appeals to Louise. After offering Florence a live-in
position, both women face something worse than eviction: trying to get George
to agree.
40- Louise
Suspects Louise chides
George for working too hard; so, he sneaks around at night to hide the fact he
is working on opening a new store. Trouble is, Louise suspects the sneaking
around has something to do with a love letter she finds.
41- The
Lie Detector Lionel
refuses to take a lie detector test at his new job. When he arrives home to
take a family picture and announces his news, he endures his father’s
suspicion.
42-
George’s Diploma George is
embarrassed when Lionel passes off his high school-dropout father as a Harvard
grad. George trudges through a high school equivalency test -- as well as a
betting war with Florence.
43- The
Retirement Party George has to
make a choice: sell the business for a small fortune, or sell out his friend.
44-
Lionel’s Pad Lionel finds
an apartment. George and Louise are not thrilled at the prospect of an empty
nest and more than shocked to find out Jenny will be Lionel’s new roomate.
45- Tom
the Hero Tom saves
George’s life with the Heimlich maneuver. But when George tires of the hero’s
welcome Tom gets around the building, George devises a way to make things even
again.
46-
Jenny’s Discovery Jenny
agonizes over her feelings toward Lionel. Questioning her love for him, she is
put to the test when it looks like her intended might have been killed in a bus
crash along with Tom and George.
47- The
Agreement Looks like
the wedding is off. Jenny is furious after George suggests Lionel ask her to
sign a prenuptial agreement. George faces marital woes of his own after Louise
makes a bet with him.

Florence in Love The early
morning intruder in the kitchen turns out to be Florence’s boyfriend. It’s
Jeffersons vs. Johnston in a battle for appropriate boundaries, ending with
Florence’s quitting.
49- The
Christmas Wedding The wedding
is on. It’s Christmas Eve, and everyone is looking forward to the wedding. But
George takes exception to the minister’s racial and familial background. He and
Tom fight, and it is up to Louise and some well-placed Christmas carolers to
save the day,
50- Louise
Forgets When Louise
forgets to make an important call, George pleads with her to improve her
memory. She takes a class to better her memory, while Florence takes a class in
Judo.
