TV Land is happy to welcome Alan Dale to the cast of Hot in Cleveland in the guest character role of Sir Emmet Austin, a celebrated movie actor in Victoria's (Wendie Malick) latest film project.

Alan Dale was born May 6, 1947 in Dunedin, New Zealand. As a child he showed promise in his two passions: live theatre and rugby. Upon his retirement from rugby at 27, Dale decided moved to Australia in order to pursue acting full-time and help support his family. He quickly achieved success in Australian soaps such as The Young Doctors and perhaps his most famous role of Jim Robinson in Neighbors.

Dale also boasts live theatre credits to his name, and appeared in the title role of King Arthur in a London West end theatre run of Spamalot.

In recent years Dale has appeared stateside in hit American television shows such as The O.C, Lost, 24, NCIS, The West Wing, ER, The X-Files and Once Upon a Time, as well as popular movies Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

He is married to former Miss Australia 1986 Tracey Pearson, and has four sons. He resides in Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles.
