Patricia Richardson was born at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland to a family of "military brats." She was previously married to Ray Barker, an actor, and has three children. For eight seasons Richardson appeared as Tim Allen's hard-working, long-suffering wife Jill Taylor on Home Improvement. She also starred in Strong Medicine and The West Wing. Richardson was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for her work in the film Ulee's Gold opposite Peter Fonda.
A loving wife, enduring mother and horrible cook (her mother's fault), Jill is the glue that keeps the tool-centric Taylors together. Whenever her husband Tim wants to appease her, he takes her out to dinner or makes her breakfast - prompting her children to ask their father, 'What'd you do this time?' Whenever she tries to tell her family a story about her childhood, they beg her to stop or walk out of the room.
