Happily Divorced

Renee Taylor

TV Land welcomes Renée Taylor back to the cast of Happily Divorced in the role of Marilyn, Dori's (Rita Moreno) friend from the old-neighborhood, and present-day neighbor.

Renée Taylor was born on March 19, 1933 in the Bronx, New York. She got her start in the New York City comedy scene in the early 60's at the nightclub Bon Soir, where a then unknown Barbara Streisand was her opening act. In 1965 Taylor married Joseph Bologna, and the two co-wrote the Broadway hit comedy Lovers and Other Strangers. They later adapted the stage play for film, and their efforts won them an Oscar nomination in 1970. Taylor and Bologna proceeded to write, and their screenplay Made For Each Other received a Writer's Guild of America Award nomination for Best Comedy.

Taylor continued to appear in television and film, but her most notable role came in 1992 when she appeared as Fran Drescher's well-intentioned yet overbearing mother Sylvia Fine on The Nanny. After appearing in several episodes, Taylor was quickly upgraded from guest star to full-fledged cast member. Meanwhile, Bologna made his own guest appearance on The Nanny as hotheaded actor Allan Beck.

In recent years Renée has enjoyed a slew of guest roles on television. She has been featured on How I Met Your Mother, Law and Order: Special Victim's Unit, 2 Broke Girls, and lent her voice to the animated hit Ice Age.

Taylor and Bologna have a son, Gabriel, who is also an actor.
