Wayans was born on June 8, 1958 in New York, New York. He discovered his love of comedy at an early age, and he eventually left college to pursue a career as a comedian. His first break came with the role of Private Duke Johnson in the TV drama For Love and Honor in 1983. After meeting and collaborating with Eddie Murphy on the comedic film Eddie Murphy Raw, which was released in 1987, Wayans gained increased notoriety. The Emmy-winning sketch comedy show In Living Color remains one of his most popular projects and was recently honored with the "Groundbreaking Award" at the TV Land Awards in April 2012.
After his television show, Wayans spent time focusing on film where he also found success. Scary Movie remains one of the most successful movies directed by an African-American. The production company he co-owns with his brothers has also produced other comedic films, like White Chicks, Little Man and Dance Flick. His acting credits include I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, The Glimmer Man and Most Wanted.
Wayans has 5 kids. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
