Locklear was born September 25th, 1961 in California. She attended the University of Los Angeles in 1979 with the intention of majoring in psychology, but a stint of casual modeling jobs quickly ballooned into full-time work as an actress and model, and she was forced to quit school.
Locklear made her first television appearances in 1980 on CHiPs, and Eight is Enough. But it was not until a year later, in 1981, when she met and collaborated with TV mogul Aaron Spelling, that Locklear got her big break as mean girl Sammy Jo Carrington in Dynasty. As Sammy Jo, Locklear shared the screen with legends John Forsythe and Joan Collins. The role was short-lived, but Spelling liked what he saw and offered her the part of Officer Stacy Sheridan on T.J. Hooker. Locklear went on to subsequent Spelling projects such as Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Hotel, and Melrose Place, where her role as Amanda Woodward cemented her reputation on television for being the woman you love to hate. Other television credits include guest roles on Spin City, Scrubs, Boston Legal, and Rules of Engagement. Heather makes her home in southern California and is the mother of daughter Ava.
