"You know what they say about a man who keeps puttin off getting married? They say he starts getting irritable." - Barney Fife |

Mayberry is a small town that is rich in heritage and history. The history is similar to
many other small towns across America, yet it is as unique as the individuals who forged
the town. It is typical of how communities grew up all across our great nation. While
Mayberry is in the back country of North Carolina at the foot of the Blue Ridge
Mountains, it is likely to bear many similarities to many crossroads, towns, and cities
throughout America.
Today, with the hard work of carving a civilization out of the wilderness behind them,
citizens of Mayberry spend their free time with friends, perhaps gathering at the barber
shop or fishing, or just watching the occasional car go down the road. Sometimes,
excitement rolls into town in the form of wild hillbillies, escaped criminals and even a
goat full of dynamite, but situations seem to resolve quickly and citizens enjoy a peaceful
co-existence.
Crime is not a problem in town with Sheriff Andy Taylor around to enforce the law. In
addition to nabbing law-breakers, Sheriff Taylor also shares his insight and wisdom with
everyone he meets. His deputy, Barney Fife is always ready to stand up to the most
difficult challenge with his spirited enthusiasm.
Take a stroll down Main Street and stop for a haircut or some local stories at Floyd's
Barber Shop. Shopping is a pleasure at Walker's Drug Store or Weaver's Department
where locals shop for everything from school clothes to that perfect outfit for the
Chamber of Commerce dance.
