# 45 - "Rebound, Part I"
In the aftermath of their separation, Sam has fallen off the wagon and has returned to his playboy ways, while Diane has just returned from a self-imposed rest at at a sanitarium. Diane urges Sam to get help from her psychiatrist, Dr. Frasier Crane, but does not reveal that she and Frasier are lovers.

After several sessions with Dr. Frasier Crane, Sam is getting his life back in order, so Diane feels it's time to tell the truth about her relationship with the psychiatrist. Diane agrees to take her old job back.

Sam believes that Diane is still madly in love with him, and his ego goes sky-high. Cliff fears he made a terrible mistake by turning in a co-worker for stealing, because the large and angry man is now looking for him.

Cheers has a Halloween costume party and Cliff meets the woman of his dreams., Frasier is called out of town and gallantly asks Sam to escort Diane to a concert they had planned to attend, but both Frasier and Diane have second thoughts about the arranged "date."

# 49 - "Sam Turns the Other Cheek"
Sam dates a married woman and the jealous husband shows up at Cheers with a gun.

# 50 - "Coach in Love, Part I"
Coach falls madly in love with Irene the moment he sets eyes on her, and when she seems to return his love he proposes marriage. Irene's daughter rejects Sam's advances.

Coach is filled with joy when Irene accepts his proposal of marriage, but after winning a two million dollar lottery, her life changes dramatically and he isn't sure where he fits into it.

Diane meets Frasier's mother, a renowned psychologist who is very pleasant to her during dinner, but when Frasier leaves them alone, threatens to kill her if she continues to interfere in her son's life.

When Carla's ex-husband returns with his new bride, demanding custody of their oldest son, the normally feisty waitress acquiesces. The gang at Cheers set out to help Carla regain custody of her son.

# 54 - "Diane's Allergy"
After moving in with Frasier, Diane develops a chronic allergy and believes it's caused by his beloved dog. Frasier worries that there may be a psychological basis for her reaction.

# 55 - "Peterson Crusoe"
Norm is shaken when a chest x-ray uncovers a mysterious spot. He decides to pursue his dream of sailing around the world.

# 56 - "A Ditch in Time"
Sam's flirtation with a customer at the bar gets him into trouble when she turns out to be a crazy member of Diane's therapy group.

Sam plays a charity baseball game against the Playboy Playmates.

Sam and Coach decide to return to school for their high school diplomas.

# 61 - "The Mail Goes to Jail"
Norm finishes an ailing Cliff's mail route for him and ends up in jail for mail-tampering. Cliff fears he will lose his job.

# 62 - "Bar Bet"
A bet made during a long-forgotten drunken binge comes back to haunt Sam. The man with whom he made the wager shows up with a signed agreement stating that Sam must marry Jacqueline Bisset by midnight the next day or forfeit his bar.

# 63 - "Behind Every Great Man"
Sam's reputation as a ladies' man is on the line when a female reporter visits Cheers to do a story on the singles scene and is immediately turned off by Sam's masculine smugness.

When Nick is thrown out by his new wife, he comes groveling back to Carla vowing to prove his love for her by being her slave.

Norm is forced by his boss to take a promotion and become the feared "Corporate Killer" who fires employees.

# 66 - "Cheerio Cheers"
Diane decides to leave Cheers to live in Europe with Frasier. Diane secretly wishes Sam would stop her, but instead of showing concern, Sam throws them a bon voyage party.

# 67 - "Bartender's Tale"
With Diane away in Europe, Sam must hire a new waitress. Carla thinks she has found the perfect replacement--a mature English woman to whom Sam will not be attracted.

# 68 - "The Belles of St. Clete's"
Carla sets out for revenge when her former high school principal visits the bar.

# 69 - "Rescue Me"
Frasier proposes to Diane while in Europe, wanting to get married the very next day. On the phone, Sam tells Diane contgratulations and does not tell of his plans to stop the wedding.
