Sam and Diane resolve to launch their romance at last, but passion soon turns to anger.

When Carla complains that Diane is getting preferential treatment as the boss's girlfriend, Diane tries to leave Cheers for an art gallery. Norm deals with his separation from Vera by going "on the prowl."

Diane acts as theatrical coach to a man named Andy who discovered a love of acting while in prison.

One year after dumping Diane, Professor Sumner appears at Cheers with his ex-wife and invites Diane and Sam to dine with them.

When Hank steps into Cheers, he's immediately drawn to Carla, who can't believe that anyone normal and nice would be attracted to her. She tests him at every turn.

Sam's newly divorced friend is eager to carouse with him, but when Sam explains that he and Diane are a couple, he sets out to prove he can break them up in 24 hours.

The gentle Coach turns into a tyrant obsessed with winning when he manages a little-league team.

Dick Cavett causes great excitement when he visits Cheers and offers to submit Sam's memoirs to his publisher, causing would-be poet Diane to become jealous. Norm runs into an old high school rival.

Sam is so excited to receive some coveted boxing tickets from Diane that he utters the crucial statement - "I love you." Having taken it very seriously, she is appalled at the casual way in which he bandies about the words.

Diane's dearest friend moves to town and Diane is eager to have her feel at home and hit it off with Sam. However, she tries to get a bit too cozy with Sam.

Kramer decides to leave $100,000 to the gang at Cheers.

# 35 - "Battle of the Exes"
The sleazy Nick Tortelli brings Loretta, his statuesque bride-to-be, to Cheers to rub Carla's nose in his good fortune. Determined not to let him get he best of her, Carla decides to attend his wedding with the biggest hunk she can find--Sam.

# 36 - "No Help Wanted"
Against his better judgement, Sam hires Norm as an accountant for Cheers.

# 37 - "Coachie Makes Three"
Coach is oblivious to the fact that he's interfering with Sam and Diane's love life. Sam and Diane decide the Coach needs a woman and arrange a double date.

# 38 - "Cliff's Rocky Moment"
Cliff backs out of a fight with a bar thug, but finds a unique way to save face.

# 39 - "Fortune and Men's Weights"
Coach purchases a decorative antique weight machine that delivers fortunes and proves addictive.

# 40 - "Snow Job"
Carla informs Diane that traditionally on Washington's Birthday, Sam and his old baseball pals hit the slopes to hit on women. Diane is determined to stop Sam from going.

# 41 - "Coach Buries A Grudge"
A grief-stricken Coach plans a wake for an old baseball buddy, but sadness turns to anger when he learns that the pal had once propositioned his wife.

# 42 - "Norman's Conquest"
Norm's attractive new client seems to be coming on to him and the anxiety-stricken accountant decides he must succumb to prove his manhood to the guys in the bar.

# 43 - "I'll Be Setting You, Part I"
Diane is livid to learn that Sam agreed to be interviewed by a Boston magazine as one of the city's 10 most eligible bachelors. Semenko, an eccentric and brilliant artist aims to paint Diane’s "tortured soul" and sees Sam as the cause of it.

# 44 - "I'll Be Setting You, Part II"
While the famed Semenko paints Diane, she finds herself defending her relationship with Sam.
