Sam courts a voluptuous, dim-witted blonde of whom Diane disapproves. Sam then tries (to no avail) to impress Diane with his ex-wife, Debra.

# 3 - "The Tortelli Tort"
A rude customer causes Carla's temper to flair. Diane makes the mistake of suggesting a psychologist.

# 6 - "Any Friend of Diane's"
After a ruined romance with an intellectual, Diane's friend confides she's looking for a fling with someone earthy. To Diane's dismay, she sets her sights on Sam.

# 7 - "Friends, Romans and Accountants"
Norm volunteers Diane to be his boss's date for the firm's annual bash.

# 8 - "Truth or Consequences"
When the constantly bickering Carla and Diane call a truce over a couple of drinks, Diane professes her desire for a friend and confidante. Carla proceeds to pull a prank on her.

# 9 - "Coach Returns to Action"
Coach harbors a crush on his attractive neighbor who visits Cheers and is relentlessly pursued by Sam. Coach astounds everyone with his foolproof technique for winning women.

When a Red Sox pitcher falls into a slump and asks his idol Sam for advice, Sam reluctantly parts with his good luck charm.

Inebriated for the first time in his life, a young priest-to-be makes an advance toward Diane and concludes he's not fit for the monastery. Sam finds a unique way to convince him otherwise. Meanwhile, a WWI veteran arrives at Cheers for his brigade’s sixth decade reunion to find that he may be the only member left.

# 12 - "The Spy Who Came in For a Cold One"
Diane incurs the wrath of Sam and the entire Cheers clan when she exposes a customer who spouts captivating, tall tales of his exploits as a World War II spy.

# 13 - "Now Pitching, Sam Malone"
A sexy, high-powered TV commercial agent makes Sam an offer.

Feeling blue over the death of her cat, Diane gets little sympathy from the Cheers clan and begins to re-evaluate her relationships with everyone--especially Sam.

Diane is aghast when a very pregnant Carla tricks a surprised but ecstatic man into believing he's the father.

# 16 - "The Boys in the Bar"
Sam's ex-roommate and Red Sox teammate comes out of the closet in his autobiography.

Sam and Diane agree to try to find perfect dates for each other. The result is a confused and unconventional double date.

Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill drops by Cheers. Sam enters a photo of Diane in the annual Miss Boston Barmaid contest to be held at the pub.

# 19 - "Pick a Con, Any Con"
When Sam learns the unwitting Coach is being hustled by his "pal," he plots to con the con artist. Harry Anderson begins a recurring role as a shyster.

# 20 - "Someone Single, Someone Blue"
If Diane isn't wed in 24 hours, her upper-crust mom will lose her inheritance. Mrs. Chambers visits Cheers and urges her daughter to tie the knot temporarily with Sam.

# 21 - "Show Down, Part 1"
Sam is chagrined when his brother, Derek, captivates everyone at Cheers- especially Diane.

# 22 - ""Show Down, Part II"
Sam and Diane are forced to come to grips with their feelings about each other--as the romance between Derek and Diane grows more serious.
