Charlie's Angels

About Charlie's Angels

In 1976, the world of TV detective shows was forever altered. Week after week through 1981, America tuned in to see Charlie's three lovely (and often scantily clad) ladies fight crime. Which three beauties played the Angels changed almost every year even if the plotlines didn't.

Most Charlie's Angels episodes follow one of two formulas: 1) After mysterious occurrence X is reported at sexy location Y, the Angels are called in to investigate. Angel A poses as foxy profession 1, Angel B as foxy profession 2 and Angel C as foxy profession 3. They don't find out who Charlie is. Or, 2) While minding her own business, Angel X (or Angel X's friend) is mysteriously kidnapped. They don't find out who Charlie is.

John Bosley (David Doyle), liaison to the unseen Charlie Townsend (John Forsythe), assisted and protected the girls in every episode. But it was the girls' roles on Charlie's Angels that got all the attention. Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd, Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts rocketed into the American consciousness. Through merchandising, reruns and a combined total of over 100 made-for-TV movies as well as the big-screen reboot starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu, the Angels have managed to remain there for over two decades.
