would the Brady's do without Alice? She is the glue that holds
the family together. Without Alice, Carol Brady would never
have time to organize campaigns like "Save Woodland Park" or
sew fairy princess costumes for Cindy. Without Alice, the Brady
home would be a dull place too, as she provides some hearty
chuckles with her wacky sensibility.
Alice was a graduate of the same high school that the Brady
kids all went to, Westdale High, and as far as we know, her
professional life began as a housekeeper for Mr. Brady before
Bobby was born. Alice is a sensitive woman; she never mentions
the boys' first mom in front of them or the new Mrs. Brady,
and she never plays favorites with the kids even if Marcia
has left the stereo on, or Greg insists the boys deserve all
the trading stamps.
She's a clever woman, capable of writing catchy, contest-winning
jingles, and is a Charleston and bowling champion. Aside from
making great flapjacks and being friends with Lucille Ball's
housekeeper, Alice amazes us most with her loyalty to the
Brady Bunch. She never eats with them, but serves them dinner.
She is also hopelessly devoted to her main man, Sam the Butcher
(even though she still occasionally dreams of Mark Mallard.)
Alice is truly the keystone of the Brady clan, and has earned
her spot in the center square.
