Other Actors

Victor Sen Yung as Hop Sing
As a Chinese American actor, Sen Yung was seen in a series of stereotyped parts. He was seen in a number of Charlie Chan films, and eventually played a number of bad-guys in World War Two era flicks. He appeared in stage and screen in Flower Drum Song, and became a TV icon as Hop Sing, the loyal and slightly moody cook for the Cartwright family on Bonanza.

Ray Teal as Sheriff Roy Coffee (1960-72)
Starting out as a bandleader, Ray Teal was often cast as a movie tough guy based on his harsh looks. After a series of roles in Westerns, Teal landed the long-term role of good guy Sheriff Roy Coffee on Bonanza. He died in April of 1976 at the age of 74.

Mitch Vogel as Jamie Hunter-Cartwright (1970-73)
A very active child actor, Mitch Vogel found himself on the pages of teen magazines when he won the role of the orphan Jamie Hunter, taken in by the Cartwrights in Bonanzašs final years. Though his on-screen acting career faded at the end of the Œ70s, Vogel continued to act and direct community theater.

David Canary as 'Candy' Canaday (1967-1970, 1972-1973)
Entering college on a football scholarship. David canary graduated as a music major. He soon began performing in Broadway musicals, and eventually made his way out west to take on television roles. His first major role was that of Candy on Bonanza, a role created to help fill the void when Pernell Roberts left the show. Canary went on to a long and rich career in theater. He eventually became a daytime icon as Adam Chandler and his kinder, gentler twin Stuart on All My Children, a dual role that has earned him several daytime Emmy awards.
