Peter Bonerz hails
from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He began his long and successful career as a
stand-up comic in New York City. He has guest starred on many television programs
including The Addams Family, Hawaii Five-O, Sanford and Son and Murder, She Wrote, to name a
few. Bonerz's film credits include the classic Catch-22 (1970) and more
recently, Man on the Moon (1999).
Not just an actor, Bonerz has directed episodes of many series including The
Mary Tyler Moore Show, Archie Bunker's Place, Maggie
Briggs (starring Bob Newhart Show alum Suzanne Pleshette),
Wings, ER, Friends and NewsRadio, as well as 29
episodes of The Bob Newhart Show.
Bonerz received the Directors Guild of America Award for an episode of Murphy
Brown ("Uh Oh, Part 2") and was nominated for an Emmy Award as best director
for a different episode of Murphy Brown ("You Say Potatoe, I Say Potato").
In addition to his acting and directing, Bonerz teaches television and film
direction at UCLA Extension University. As of 2000, he can be seen as a regular in the NBC show Three Sisters. |
