Aunt Bee's Brief Encounter

Aunt Bee is smitten by a traveling handyman, but Andy ends up doing all of the work. Guest Star: Edgar Buchanan (handyman Wheeler), is best known as Uncle Joe on Petticoat Junction. Years later, he reunited with Frances Bavier in the movie Benji.

The Clubmen

The Pickle Story

The Farmer Takes a Wife

A gregarious farmer comes to town to choose a wife. Unfortunately for Barney, he chooses Thelma Lou. Guest Star: Alan Hale Jr. plays farmer Jeff Pruitt, but he is better known as the Skipper on Gilligan's Island. Notice how Pruitt refers to Barney as 'little buddy' in this episode.

Keeper of the Flame

Opie joins a secret kids club, headquartered in a neighboring farmer's barn. When the barn goes up in flames, more than one secret is revealed. Look For: Barney repeating the name Jubal.

Bailey's Bad Boy

A spoiled young man, arrested for speeding, threatens to use his father's clout against Andy unless charges are dismissed. Guest Star: Ron Bailey is played by Bill Bixby, who would go on to star in My Favorite Martian, The Courtship of Eddie's Father and The Incredible Hulk.

The Manicurist

A voluptuous manicurist sets up shop in Mayberry and unintentionally provokes trouble between husbands and wives. Guest Star: Barbara Eden (Jeannie) guest stars as the manicurist.

The Jinx

Barney becomes convinced that a local man is a true jinx. Look For: Barney's attempts to ward off bad luck.

Jailbreak

Episode: 050 | Aired: February 04, 1962

Barney inadvertently allows a fugitive to escape from the Mayberry Jail. Guest Star: Allan Melvin stars as Doc Malloy. In addition to playing Sam the Butcher in The Brady Bunch series, he had roles on The Phil Silvers Show, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. and All in the Family. You may also recognize his voice as cartoon character Magilla Gorilla.

A Medal for Opie

Opie displays poor sportsmanship after finishing last in the 50-yard dash at the annual Sheriff's Boys Day meet. Look For: Barney's rope-jumping verses.

Barney And The Choir

Barney joins the Mayberry choir, which isn't exactly music to his fellow choir members' ears. Look For: Thelma Lou telling Andy that Barney can't sing a lick.

Guest of Honor

A traveling salesman passing through town is selected as Mayberry's guest of honor. Unfortunately, he's a pickpocket. Factoid: Don Knots said that the scene where Barney deputizes Floyd, Sam and Art had to be re-shot 20 times because he was laughing so hard.

The Merchant of Mayberry

Andy helps a frazzled local salesman become established -- to the chagrin of feisty Ben Weaver. Factoid: This is Will Wright's last appearance as Ben Weaver.

Aunt Bee The Warden

When the Mayberry jail cells are full, Andy has little choice but to temporarily incarcerate town drunk Otis Campbell in his home. Aunt Bee, to whom Otis refers as Bloody Mary, proves to be an effective warden.

The Country Nurse

Mayberry's county nurse, Mary Simpson, is determined to give tetanus shots to everyone who needs one. Farmer Rafe Hollister is just as determined to avoid her.

Andy And Barney In The Big City

While on a business trip, Andy and Barney become involved in a cat-and-mouse game between a hotel detective and a notorious jewel thief. Look For: Barney signing the hotel register Barney Fife, M.D. That's Mayberrys Deputy, of course.

Andy would like to spend some time alone with Mary Simpson, but Barney keeps turning up like a bad penny.

Wedding Bells for Aunt Bee

Bookie Barber

Floyd inadvertently allows a bookie to set up business in his barbershop.

Andy On Trial

A simple speeding ticket so enrages an out-of-town newspaper publisher, he sends an undercover reporter to Mayberry to dig up dirt on Sheriff Taylor. Look For: Barney's heartfelt testimony in defense of Andy.

Cousin Virgil

Barney's clumsy young cousin stops by for a visit and manages to wreak havoc at the courthouse. Look For: Rance Howard, father of Ron and Clint Howard, appears as the bus driver.

Deputy Otis

Otis is allowed to pose as one of Andy's deputies in order to convince his visiting brother that he is not the black sheep his family was certain he would become.
