Actors
Jean Stapleton
For many years, Jean Stapleton was a supporting player in various stage productions. She began getting occasional roles on television in the 1960s on shows like Route 66, Dr. Kildare, Studio One and Philco Playhouse. Stapleton also garnered a few supporting parts in feature films like Damn Yankees and Bells Are Ringing.
She didn't achieve fame, however, until she was cast in the role of Edith Bunker on All in the Family. She remained with the show from 1971 through 1980, picking up three Emmys for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
Stapleton has continued a healthy acting career, with parts on stage and in TV movies and feature films. She was seen on the TV series Caroline in the City, as well as in the films Michael and You've Got Mail.
