Sally
Struthers began her career as an actress after graduating high
school in the mid '60s. After a couple of years, she got her
first break as a dancer on a Herb Alpert TV special, which led
to some small parts, and eventually a regular gig on The
Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. She also landed a role in
the classic feature Five Easy Pieces in 1970. Shortly
after, she won the role of Gloria Stivic on All In The Family,
where she remained until 1978. She won an Emmy award twice during
her tenure for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
While still a regular on All In The Family, Struthers
took the occasional TV movie role and did the voice of Pebbles
on the Saturday morning cartoon, The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm
Show. Several TV movies followed her departure from All
In The Family as well as a couple of short lived series,
Gloria and Nine to Five. Sally Struthers has also
done voice-over work for a variety of cartoons, like Tiny
Toons as well as the voice of Charlene Sinclair on Dinosaurs
in the early '90s. She has toured in the National Road Company
of the Broadway Musical Grease, and is a long-time supporter
and spokesperson for the International Christian Children's
Fund. |
