Turk is J.D. Dorian's best friend and roommate. In the first season of Scrubs, Turk was an intern but has moved up the ranks as the series progressed. Turk is highly competitive and this sometimes clashes with J.D.'s gentler nature.

Turk begins a relationship with Nurse Carla Espinosa in the first season of the show and by the Season 3, they're married. As with most relationships, theirs is constantly tested -- particularly as they try to conceive a child in the Season 5. Turk was also diagnosed with Type II diabetes but has found a way to manage it.
