Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor-writer-director Zach Braff made his feature film debut at the age of 18 playing Woody Allen and Diane Keaton's son in Manhattan Murder Mystery.
After graduating from Northwestern University, Braff directed TV commercials and had roles in independent films such as Getting to Know You, Blue Moon and The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy. With some persuasion by his agent, Braff auditioned for and won the role of Dr. John "J.D." Dorian on a new show called Scrubs. His portrayal earned him respect for his ability to balance comedy and drama.
While on break from filming Scrubs, Braff filmed his directorial debut, Garden State, which he also wrote and starred in. The film won a slew of awards and critical acclaim. Braff has continued to balance the show and film roles, and most recently had lead roles in The Last Kiss and The Ex. He has also lent his vocal talents to the animated feature Chicken Little. Season 9 will be Braff's final season on Scrubs.
