Maricella came from Mexico with her family and had a hard time adjusting to the predominately white high school. Despite her fellow classmates and strict parents' disapproval, she sought comfort from her jock boyfriend, Steve. Maricella and her boyfriend dated for over four years; the relationship ended suddenly after she found out he got another girl pregnant.
