The nature-friendly location of this statue – the third TV Land landmark -- mirrors the natural beauty of bucolic Mayberry as depicted in the opening credits of The Andy Griffith Show.
- It took a total of six months to create the statue in bronze.
- The show's original opening, on which the statue was based, was filmed in Franklin Canyon in Los Angeles.
- The announcer heard in the opening credits was Colin Male, who once appeared as the Stokes County Game Warden in the episode “Andy and Helen Have Their Day.”
